Chicago is one of my favorite cities–There is so much good food, activities, culture and my family is also there! I usually go to Chicago about once a year and as I’ve gotten older it’s a new experience each time. Now, not only do I have my family there but I have friends to show me unique new places. I recently when to Chicago a couple months ago for my Aunt’s bachelorette party and had a very short amount of time to explore with my friend Aaisha the next day.
Because there are so many fun things to do in Chicago, I will consider this Part 1, and I’ll share Part 2 another time 🙂
Accommodations
The first night I stayed at the London House Chicago with my Mom and I loved it! My mom is always good at picking out nice hotels and this one was no exception! They have a few different restaurants and we visited two of them for food and drinks. I hear their rooftop bar is pretty nice as well. Everything about this hotel was nice, from the elevators, rooms to the restaurants.
The second night I stayed with a friend in the Wicker Park/Ukranian Village neighborhood. And this neighborhood was so cute! I’ve stayed in Wicker Parker once before but it was in a different area. My friend Aaisha showed me around to her favorite plant store and just being in the plant store instantly boosted my mood. They had more than just plants there! I wish I had this store in my neighborhood here!
After we visited the plant store, we walked around her neighborhood and went to a local grocery store. I always find the grocery stores in different places interesting. *Sidenote–this was in March, and it was STILL freezing. No, I’m not surprised, but frolicking outside didn’t last for too long.
Activities
(Just a few of the fun things to do in Chicago)
Garfield Park Conservatory is so beautiful and bright! The greenery was nice and the flowers were so pretty and in full bloom. There were multiple areas with different scenery, one area that had brighter and more colorful flowers and another area that was similar to a desert.
The Tea Bar was an authentic Chinese tea house that was more than just tea, it was an experience! They actually make the tea in front of you not just a tea bag, but with the loose tea. It’s a whole process that is was really cool and unique to witness.
Dinner at Clever Rabbit
Dinner at Clever Rabbit was delicious! And it was also very filling. You definitely got your money’s worth here even though the prices were fairly moderate. I got the ‘Fat Rabbit’ burger and it was ah-mazing! Check out their menu here to see what else they have! I couldn’t even finish it (but what’s new I eat like a small child). This place would be such a cute date night spot because it has a chill vibe with low lights but it isn’t super loud.
We didn’t get dessert this night, but if we did I would have voted on going to Jeni’s for Icecream!
The Next Day
Werewolf Coffee
I was super excited about going here for coffee in the morning because I checked out their Instagram and they had coffee with edible glitter in it…Yes…Glitter! I just knew I was going to go and get some bomb pics for the ‘gram. But nope, of all days when we went, somehow the power went out! The lady there was really nice, but there wasn’t much she could do. I missed out on the coffee, but did get a couple of pics!
The Allis: Soho House
Since we weren’t able to get coffee, we went and got breakfast at this very instagramable place called the Soho House. My friend was filling me in on how the Allis is apparently one of Chicago’s VIP places to be. Inside of the Soho House, it’s just very pretty and unique. Everything is placed in the right spot and you just feel cool being there. The breakfast did not disappoint. We seriously had a feast fit for Queens. I got the french toast and Iced coffee and I really enjoyed it. The individuals who worked there were also very nice and even gave us recommendations for things to take pictures of! 10/10 would recommend!
And that was a wrap for my quick Chicago trip! As I mentioned before, these are just *some* of the fun things to do in Chicago. This trip I didn’t do anything touristy–I can share some of those things in part 2! Where is your favorite city to visit?
