This week’s Boss Lady Spotlight is Berri from Berry B Fit! Berri is a certified personal trainer and nutritionist. Her brand and is all about helping women live their healthiest and fittest life, but most importantly their best life. She loves helping women create a more beautifully balanced life when it comes to health, fitness, and wellness. I related to a lot of her responses, so I hope you enjoy this quick interview with her and check her out on social media too! A quote from her to describe what she does is
” I’m basically your virtual bff who loves green juice!”
What inspired you to start Berrybfit?
I’ve always had a passion to help educate, engage, and inspire other women. It only seemed natural that after 12 years invested in the health and fitness industry (lots of blood sweat and tears as an athlete) that I created my own brand, which as you already know is Berry B Fit.
What was the hardest part of starting your blog and business?
The hardest part was being confident. See, as a personal trainer, I focus on health as a whole, not just fitness. But when I first started out, I was so insecure about what I was doing because every time I went on Instagram, everyone else seemed to be a health coach or personal trainer. So feeling confident was a bit shaky at first, but then I remembered what set me apart from my competition. Passion, presentation, and potential and in all honesty, I’ve been cruising ever since.
Who are a few Boss Ladies that you look up to or that inspire you?
There are quite a few Boss Ladies I admire, but I would have to say Erin May Henry from the May Collective, she’s a total entrepreneur girl boss and an excellent business coach! I’d also have to say Sarah Stevenson or Sarah’s Day as most people know her. She’s just awesome and I love her passion for life! Also, Natasha Solae from Girl CEO Universe, she’s a total branding babe!
What is are 3 resources you can’t live without for your business?
Only 3? Oh goodness, I have so much more than 3. I would have to say number 1 is wifi, because like let’s be honest, could I really do my job without the internet? Hard no, so wifi is a must. Then there is social media! It’s helped me grow my business and build a large clientele base so much (pro tip, if you’re trying to grow your following, stop focusing on the number and focus on your content, I hit 10K as soon as I started doing that). The last resource would have to be a camera! I definitely need something to capture the moments 😀
Did you feel prepared when you launched became a personal trainer? What helped you feel confident in starting your venture?
LOL! Did I feel prepared, absolutely NOT! I seriously walked out of my corporate job with no plan of doing anything besides trying to make it. I got so tired of my corporate job so walking away was the best thing for me and my health. I’ll be honest, I didn’t feel confident starting out, but I felt like it was my calling. Let me tell you, my faith was tested like none other, but God is so good and He has certainly supplied all my needs and more.
What is your favorite quote?
Oh, I have so many this isn’t fair hahaha! I would have to say “She wasn’t looking for a knight, she was looking for a sword” by Atticus, or “Don’t tell a girl with fire in her veins and hurricane bones what she should and shouldn’t do. In the blink of an eye, she will shatter that ridiculous cage you attempt to build around her beautiful bohemian spirit” by Melody Lee.
How do you wish to impact your community/the world with what you’re offering as a personal trainer? What’s your ultimate goal?
This is my favorite question! I hope to impact the world with what I’m offering by truly educating, engaging, and inspiring women to actually live their best life. My ultimate goal is to leave a legacy of women’s empowerment with a focus on education. I would also love to have my own nonprofit organization which helps educate women in the developing world about health.
