It is definitely a challenge to figure out how to get everything done when you are a blogger or entrepreneur. But fortunately for you, I have a potential solution that can help you maximize your productivity. It is actually pretty simple and works best when paired with another strategy I like to use!
I want to introduce you to doing batch work! Batching your work goes really well with time blocking and I have an entire post on time blocking linked HERE.
What is Batch Working?
In very simple terms, batch working is completing similar task together at one time. You can just flow and focus on doing one activity instead of switching between various different tasks. So you might have one day where you decide to write all your blog post drafts, another where you shoot all the content and a different day where you make all the Pinterest covers
Why is Batch Working so Good?
Helps you to be more focused
When you’re only focused on one type of work you can keep your focus better without constantly switching gears. It always takes time to switch between various tasks and get your mind ready to execute your next assignment.
When you’re doing batch work you know that you’re supposed to be working on the one task so if something else comes up then you already know you will need to save it for another time.
I used to be terrible at just switching gears because an email or something else grabbed my attention. I love to read and learn new things so if I come across an interesting article I want to read and understand it right at that moment. I had to stop doing that and designate time to learn. When I come across things I really want to read about, I just bookmark it or leave it in a tab and make a note to come back to it during my designated time.
Saves mental energy
You already know what you’re working on and once you get warmed up you will easily push through the task. The task will become easier as you are doing repetitive tasks.
When you’re saving your mental energy, you can get super focused and just push forward to get done what you need to complete.
Creates more structure
When you have structure it is easier to stay focused. When you designate each day to get a certain task done, you will appreciate the routine you have. When things come up or you know you need to work on something you don’t have to get stressed out about when you will find the time to to do it because you will hopefully already have a day designated to completing that task.
