Winter Style is fun for me because it is so easy. I can be honest and say I’m not the first person to be knowledgeable about all of the latest trends. I generally just wear what I like, feels comfortable and fits my personality. My sense of style continues to evolve, but my winter essentials list stays consistent. Here is a mix of items that I can not make it through the winter without!
1. A good jacket/coat:
I currently live in the DC area and long puffer coat is basically non-negotiable! The wind here is serious so having something with a good hood and that has a bit of length is key. You can find the one I have on in this post at Express here. Another style of coat I like is this tan wool coat that I got from J.crew that you can find here.
2. Boots–in different styles:
I randomly saw the ones that I have on in this post at New York & Company and got them for only about $30. You can find those here. Those are pretty comfortable and good everyday bootie. My favorite booties I own are these leather Sam Edelman booties that I can wear to the office and dress up for any occasion. If you haven’t noticed yet I love wearing all things black. To step outside of my comfort zone and to have a more casual pair of booties, I’m considering these tan ones from Aldo. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect over the knee flat boots.
3. Outerwear Accessories
Gloves are an essential part of the DC winter uniform. I love these black gloves that I have on because they are cute and really keep my hands warm. I believe the ones I got are from Target, but you can find a similar pair here. I haven’t gotten any new scarves this season because truthfully, I have more than I need but I really like the blanket style of scarf that is also perfect for travel. A couple that I like are here and here. I also love a good infinity knit scarf for warmth like this one from Amazon.
4.Moisturizers–For the body and lips
My Skin immediately reacts to weather when it changes. Lately, I have really been into body butter and this argon oil one from Bath and Body works has been my favorite! I got it on sale and it smells amazing. No one likes to have dry lips so I always have a couple of different lip balm options on me. Carmex lip balms have been a staple for me for years and they recently came out with a Wintermint Moisturizing lip balm that I love. I have even started using a lip scrub I found at Trader Joe’s in one of their holiday gift sets.
5. Warm Drinks
I mostly make coffee at home with my Keurig, but sometimes I like to switch it up and make hot cocoa with a little bit of my favorite creamer in it. If I’m feeling especially fancy that day, I’ll get a holiday drink from Starbucks. My top three drinks from Starbucks include the Chestnut Praline Latte, Peppermint Mocha, and the Caramel Apple Spice.
What’s on your winter essentials list?

That’s a great list you have here! I would add hand cream, headband/hat and warm socks! But I probably live in a much colder plan than you 😀 If you like those Starbucks drinks, I definitely recommend that you try Espresso House if you ever come to Scandinavia! Great post! x
Oooh! those are all very good things as well! Especially the hand cream. I hate dry hands!
