I recently took a mini break from publishing new blog posts. Sometimes you need to just take a break and take care of yourself! You can pick up the signs when you’re overwhelmed or if you’re juggling too many hats. We are all human and we need to remember that more often! These are the reasons why you shouldn’t feel bad about taking a break to take care of yourself:
-
You deserve time for yourself

Fun fact: I love all of the cheesy romantic comedies on Netflix. There happens to be a new one out that was pretty fun to watch called “Set it Up”. Again, I know these are cheesy but I can’t get enough! I hadn’t taken the time to sit and watch a movie on my own in a reallyyyy long time. And while I took my break I did that. And I enjoyed it. During the past month, I had friends and family visit in town and I went home once as well. I wanted to enjoy that time and not be worried about all the things I need to do. I really value the relationships that I have with friends and family so being around them always grounds me and puts me back in a good place.

Sometimes priorities in life shift.

For me personally, I’m currently in the midst of wedding planning, building my brand and business, working full time and being a good fiancé/friend/daughter. For a good amount of time, I was working really hard on the blog trying to get content out and trying to learn as much as could to become the best blogger. That was great, but I still had things that I needed to get done for wedding planning like setting a date, picking a venue etc. When my focus shifted towards executing some of those wedding planning priorities, I just wasn’t able to dedicate the same amount of time and energy to the blog. And I was totally okay with that. I knew that my shift in attention was temporary so it was going to be fine for the time being. Priorities are always going to shift, it doesn’t mean that those items are not as important but that a certain area just needs a little bit more attention.

When you take care of yourself, you can use the time to gain clarity & come back stronger

When I didn’t feel super crunched for time to come up with new ideas or to publish content, I was able to come up with fresh ideas and goals for my brand. I honestly took a step back altogether and was able to see what was still bringing traffic to my site without me even taking the time to promote or really publish a lot of new content. This really gave me insight on what is working for me and areas where I can improve. I was able to develop even more clear goals and objectives for my brand for the rest of 2018 that I am really excited about.

It’s better to take a break when you recognize you need one than be forced to take one

As busy as I previously was when I took a break, the next half of the year is going to be crazy busy. But for all good reasons! When I decided to take a break I wasn’t completely burnt out so it didn’t take me as long to recharge. If you wait until you are all the way burnt out to take care of yourself, it is going to take you so much longer to recharge and bounce back. I was able to plan ahead so that I can still function when life gets back crazy again.
