So…I’m Engaged! And have been since November 25th, 2017. It has been almost exactly a month since this all happened. And whew! Time is flying by. It is finally settling in that I’m someone’s fiancé and soon-to-be Wife. I’m not sure what level of adulting I just hit, but I’m pretty sure its one of the high ones.
I’m sure you want to know the tea on what exactly happened so, here it is!
Part 1:
My Amazing now fiancé Selwyn (say it with me: Sell-Win), planned an afternoon of surprises. Let’s rewind to a few weeks before. I had been wanting to go back to our alma mater, North Carolina State University, to look around at all the new things they have built up. Basically just to be nosey and see what perks the students now have. There are also some cool areas around there so I also wanted to take some pictures for Boss Lady Brand.
Selwyn suggested that we go back to campus Thanksgiving weekend when we were back home in North Carolina since we would have some free time. I agreed and thought it was a great idea. The night before we planned on going to campus I mentioned to him that it was a bummer there wouldn’t be anyone to take a picture of the both of us…and he just said we could probably get a stranger to do it.
The day of:
As soon as I got dropped off on campus to meet him, he said he knew of a good spot to take my first pictures so we went there and there was a guy setting up for a shoot he was doing and he asked if it would be ok for him to have that area in 5-10 minutes. We agreed since we were just going to be taking a few shots. Here’s the link to the post where I actually used one of those pics. Soon while we’re taking pics some of the guy’s flowers he had laid out started blowing away. Selwyn helped him fix them and then asked the guy if he would take a picture of the both of us. I was cool with that but also didn’t want to get in the way of what the guy was setting up.
Little did I know…
It was set up for me! As we got in the middle of the rose petals, Selwyn bent down and popped the question! I was very surprised but in the best way. And of course, the answer was Yes! I’m so thankful that Keenan (the photographer) was able to capture those moments for us. He has a few more pics on his insta @kmhairstmedia
Part 2:
After the actual proposal and some pictures, we went to Selwyn’s Parent’s house…where family, my closest High School friends, College Roommates, and Line Sisters were! I was thoroughly surprised and completely overwhelmed with all of the love and joy that surrounded me. I feel incredibly blessed to know that God has placed so many great people in my life and someone who actually took the time to coordinate and plan a special day just for me!
I’m looking forward to sharing updates with you all as I start my planning 🙂
