It’s officially time for me to get my life together. Even though I always feel like I’m doing that lol. But this time– I decided to create a little challenge for myself. And I figured if I tell the world this is something that I’m working on, then I actually have to do it. Eeek!
It’s pretty simple, I want to challenge myself to cut back on a few things but instead of just for a week or a month–I want to go the whole 2nd quarter of the year (April, May, June) without these things. So far, as I’m writing this (April 4th) I’m doing good on this! I will provide an update at the end of each month on how I did. So it will be like mini 30-day challenges. My ultimate goal is to save more and live more minimally. Wish me luck for the next three months!
These are the items I’m doing without for the next few months:
1.Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts
This one hurts a little. I really like coffee, and I really like the experience of going to get coffee. I’m sure that sounds strange, but I enjoy going to Starbucks for a midday pick me up. My Baristas at my Starbucks know me and everything. But I want to focus on saving money and making my coffee at home and go back to one of my tips from my Money saving tips post here.
2. Shopping (Clothes or Makeup)
I think this might be the hardest part of my challenge. Whenever the seasons change, I always make the excuse that “oh I need summer/winter/whatever season it is clothes.” But this season, Nope. Not going to do it. I’m going to be moving in the very near future so I need to focus on letting things go, rather than acquiring things. And to be honest, I did get a few items prior to deciding on this challenge so I think that will hold me over until this is the challenge is done. And who knows! I might not even want to go shopping when it’s all over.
3. Sweets
Okay, I lied. This one will for sure be my hardest one. I’ve tried a 30-day no sweets challenge before and that didn’t work. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a sweet tooth. In college, I survived late night study sessions by living off of cherry coke, fruit snacks, and ice cream. I’m convinced I was a sugar addict. I somehow broke that addiction during grad school but I can slowlyyyy feel myself slipping back down that road. So. Here we are. I’m cutting them down to 1-2 a week!
4.My last area isn’t something I’m cutting out
but adding more of it! I need to blog more consistently. And connect with you via email more often.I want to continue to produce quality content, just more often. My goal is at a minimum one blog post (really aiming for two) and at least one email sent a week. Hold me to this!! So in order to hold me to this, you need to be subscribed to my emails!
Check back in for updates on my 30-day challenge 🙂 Which of my first three items would be the hardest for you to cut out? Let me know if you want to join me!
